Just Draw It - February, 2009 Issue #13 -- Updates Galore!
Feb 24, 2009

I'm just back from a much needed vacation and feeling refreshed and recharged. There's lots of new lessons as well as a lot of 'behind the scenes' updates to the site that you may not have noticed, but which should give you a better experience using the site.

First of all, there is now a Search Function of the site which you can access from the bottom of the menu on the left side of the page, or visit directly. If you've ever been looking for a lesson but just couldn't remember where it was - this function should help you find it in a flash:

There's also a Frequently Asked Questions or FAQ page which answers the most common questions that I was receiving by email. Be sure to check this page whenever you have a question, and if your question isn't answered there, then send me off an email!

Lastly, I granted anyone who wants to use the images on the site for non-commercial purposes full access to use them. This should help out all the students and teachers get the images they need for their classes, exams and projects without waiting on an email response from me.

From the Mailroom:

Dear Drawing Coach,

Why don't you create an about me page so that we can get to know who you are a little better?

James

Hi James!

I'm not usually one to step into the spotlight or toot my own horn, but I think that's a great idea you have! You can learn more about me by visiting the page here:

About Me!

Cheers!

In the Works:

There's a new video series that I have been working on which continues on from where the how to draw the human head video guide left off and takes things in a completely new direction now that the basics have been covered. I don't want to say too much more at the moment, but I think that anyone interested in portrait drawing and cartoon drawing will be really pleased with what's coming up!

Around the Net:

This month try this cool little art tool to make your own unique interactive flower design. If you have ever had or tried a kaleidoscope you will feel right at home:

Create Your Own Flowers

New Tutorials:

Cartoon Hearts - Learn how to approach the designing of a cute cartoon heart.

Cartoon Duck - Ever have a rubber ducky for bath time when you were a kid? This lesson will show you how to draw a stylized duck just like you remember!

How to Draw Dogs - How to draw a cartoon German Sheppard.

Cartoon Chicken - A simple stylized Cartoon Chicken is only a click away!

Cartoon Horses - Another stylized cartoon animal for you to try your hand at drawing and improve your drawing skills.

Question of the Month:

I'm trying out a new newsletter format this month in hopes of both keeping myself organized as well as offering you the quickest and easiest way to see what's new and happening with the site. What do think? I'm interested in hearing your thoughts! Just reply to this email and let me know what you think.

Best wishes for your artistic success!
